PBs twisty take on top five headlines of the day.

1. David Headley Names Pak’s ISI And Hafiz Saeed In Court – Nothing New!

India has always known this, now a firang terrorist accepts it and it becomes credible in international arena. Pak may act against Hafiz but how can it act against ISI? So what’s the outcome of this revelation. Nothing! Just that India may now ask Sharif to take action against ISI. Are you joking?

2. BJP,RSS working for the betterment of Muslims: Indresh Kumar – Really?

RSS’s Muslim Rashtriya Manch has done a lot for Muslims including providing them employment, proper education, housing, etc. BJP should work for betterment of all Indians, without looking at their religion. Is this an open Minority Appeasement and vote bank enhancement ploy like Congress? Then instead of benefitting it may harm more with a section of Hindu voters going away.

3. Your power bill may go down this year – Really?

This is due to the combined effect of less-than-anticipated demand growth, excess coal at thermal power plants and restrictions imposed by the National Load Despatch Centre. Cost of production of power may come down but will government deliver benefit to consumers it the big question. Or like in case of fuel price keep it with itself to meet subsidies.

4. Election years see 30% rise in Padma awards – Not astonishing!

Delhi and Maharashtra accounted for a third of all Padma Shri awards while Bihar had just 20 winners, less than 2% of all the awards in 2014. Seven states together accounted for 63%. Election years see 30% rise in number of Padma Shri awardees from the particular state. Ha become more of an electoral tool. Sad but true!

5. BJP will need an astute alliance to make a mark in Tamil Nadu polls – Very True!

DMK and the AIADMK have ruled the state for nearly half a century and both retain a pan-state base that cuts across caste lines. There remains very little space for Congress and BJP. Both have done well in the state only in alliance with either of these parties. Dravidian parties have ruled the roost. In 2014 Lok Sabha polls BJP managed to stitch an alliance with DMDK (Vijaykanth), MDMK (Vaiko) and PMK (Ramadoss) and won 2 seats while DMK drew a blank.

MDMK has already left the alliance. Both Ramadoss and Vijaykanth want to be portrayed as CM candidate. BJP has a tough task at hand. However, IMO, retaining its own identity and not allying with either DMK or AIADMK best for BJP to build a support base in the state.6. BJP will need an astute alliance to make a mark in Tamil Nadu polls.
