  1. Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination midway during polling changed the trajectory of the 1991 election and generated a sympathy wave that brought the Congress to a near-majority. But what would have happened if the assassination had not taken place? Do you know what the opinion polls were predicting, and is there any evidence of how strong the swing towards the Congress was after the assassination?
